LONGMONT, Colo., July 23 -- DigitalGlobe(R), provider of
the world's highest-resolution imagery and geospatial information products,
today announced the addition of Geoimage Pty Ltd of Brisbane, Australia to
its network of distribution partners.
Under terms of the agreement,
Geoimage will resell DigitalGlobe's high-resolution satellite imagery
throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the islands of the
South West Pacific. Geoimage joins Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM), a
long-standing DigitalGlobe partner, in servicing the geospatial needs of
the region.
"Over the past decade the market for geospatial imagery in our region
has grown exponentially. As geospatial data and imagery become more broadly
accepted as a key component to decision making, Geoimage aims to meet new
market demand with the highest quality products," said Sylvia Michael,
director of Geoimage. "We chose to partner with DigitalGlobe as it is a
leader in the global commercial Earth imagery and geospatial information
market. With the launch of the WorldView constellation, we will be able to
respond to our clients needs for an expanded source of geospatial
information products and supply them with the data that they need to
conduct business and maintain their competitive advantage in their
markets."
Geoimage is an independent image processing consultancy specializing in
the sales and processing of satellite and geophysical imagery throughout
Australia. Based in Brisbane with offices in Perth and Sydney, Geoimage
will continue to focus on its clients in various industries including:
mining and petroleum resources, government, environment, mapping and GIS.
"In recent years there has been growing public awareness and demand for
high-resolution geospatial imagery. Today, businesses and individuals are
consuming greater quantities of location-based information for applications
ranging from corporate decision support and asset management to GPS
navigation and disaster planning and recovery," said Gil Norrie, regional
sales director for ANZ and North Asia at DigitalGlobe. "We are very excited
about engaging Geoimage given its significant expertise in the satellite
imagery business gained over its 19-year history."
DigitalGlobe's existing distribution partner, Sinclair Knight Merz,
will continue to service its significant client base including the markets
of government, infrastructure, mining, water and environment. The firm has
a long standing relationship with DigitalGlobe and with offices throughout
Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region, SKM provides a range
of imagery products and services to clients based in these locations. SKM
remains the distribution partner for all of DigitalGlobe's defense sales in
the Australia and New Zealand region.
Together, SKM and GeoImage will complement one another and extend the
reach of DigitalGlobe throughout Australia and the Oceania marketplace.
