Don't just surf the web and your photos, Zurf it! Zurfer is a cool location-sensitive social networkin gapplication that enables users to take the functionality of Flickr with them on their mobile. Developed by Yahoo! Research Labs, the application has been tested on on the following Nokia Series 60 v2 and v3 phones: N73, N95, N80, 6682 and N70.
What Does it Do?
Zurfer enables you to see you r flickr photos or show them to your friends, see what's around you (based on your Zonetag location) and see what your friends and contacts are doing. Access your entire photo collection from your flickr account using this clever application and simple UI.
What About the Location Part?
Users of Zurfer are requested to enter their ZoneTag... this is a location-sensitive identifier that tells Zurfer where you are (approximately). When you change your location simply update your zonetag. The very cool part of the application is that you can also view flickr photos and streams captured by other people that are near your current location... sweet!
What You Need
A free ZoneTag account. You must be registered with ZoneTag before you can use Zurfer. If you don't have a ZoneTag account, we'll create one for you when you signup for Zurfer.
A free Flickr account. Zurfer uses photos from Flickr, so you'll need a Flickr account. If you don't have one, create a Flickr account first.
A beefy smart phone. We have tested Zurfer on the following Nokia Series 60 v2 and v3 phones: N73, N95, N80, 6682 and N70. It should work on most Nokia Series 60 v2 and v3 phones, but your mileage may vary. It also runs on the Motorola RAZR V3x. It may work on other phone models; try at your own risk and let us know how it goes!
A data plan from your carrier - unlimited data would be nice!
Zurfer is available from http://zurfer.research.yahoo.com - once you have an account you can view your Zurfer Channel on your mobile or on a PC client as well.
