Hymer AG the First Customer to Benefit from Partnerships Advanced Tracking and Wi-Fi Planning Solutions
Saratoga, CA May 23, 2007 Ekahau Inc., a leading provider of Wi-Fi-based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) and Wi-Fi planning tools, today announced a worldwide reseller agreement with Siemens Communications, Inc. Ekahau RTLS enables Siemens customers to cost-effectively deploy integrated location-based mobile business solutions from a single vendor.
"We are excited to be collaborating with one of the leading Wi-Fi vendors," said Antti Korhonen, president and CEO of Ekahau. "By combining Ekahaus innovative products with Siemens worldwide channels, we are providing enterprises worldwide with the ability to deploy end-to-end enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure - from wireless planning and optimization to location tracking."
Ekahau RTLS solution, which includes the server engine, battery-powered Wi-Fi tags and application software, provides enterprise-grade performance over any existing Wi-Fi network. The Ekahau Positioning Engine (EPE) server can track the real-time location of more than 10,000 objects on a single server up to four times the capacity of the nearest competitor and calculate up to 600 locations per second.
As a part of the announced partnership, Siemens HiPath Wireless Manager HiGuard has been integrated with Ekahaus ESS Version 2.2. This combination enables customers site survey data to be directly imported from the ESS into HiGuard. As a result, Siemens network designers can reduce the number of site surveys, and dramatically lower the cost and time of Wi-Fi infrastructure deployment. Previously, separate site surveys were required for deploying Wi-Fi access points, wireless IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) sensors, and RFID tags.
Hymer AG, one of Europes best-known and most innovative manufacturers of mobile homes, is the first customer deployment of Ekahau-Siemens partnership. Hymer AG recently added Ekahaus solution into its existing Siemens WLAN. The company is using the combined solution to identify and track the locations of up to 1,800 mobile homes and caravans on assembly lines and on the company campus.
"By integrating location services into our Siemens HiPath Wireless LAN, we can optimize our assembly line process sequences and access the necessary vehicles more quickly," said Michael Tregner, managing director of Hymer. "It has greatly simplified the planning and deployment of those services."
"With this addition to the Siemens HiPath Wireless portfolio, we can offer the many advantages of real time tracking solutions worldwide to a wide spectrum of industries," said Luc Roy, vice president of Product Planning, HiPath Wireless at Siemens Communications. "Hymer is a great example of how location-based services can be deployed. Healthcare, logistics and security are likewise promising industries in which weve already begun our first joint installations."
