WAYNE, Pa., May 22 -- Traffic.com, a NAVTEQ company (NYSE: NVT) and a leading provider of personalized traffic information for drivers coast-to-coast, has launched JamCast(R) real-time traffic video at www.traffic.com for 30 metropolitan areas across the U.S.
This breakthrough in free online consumer services provides commuters with dynamically generated traffic news with fully automated audio and video of live traffic conditions for roadways in and around the most congested traffic cities in the nation.
JamCast solutions are continuous, automatic, digitally managed services for the delivery of real-time traffic news across Web, television, radio and wireless platforms. JamCast features patented Jam Factor(R) roadway traffic measurements that allow commuters to easily understand the relative congestion level with a number on a scale from 1 to 10.
With JamCast, commuters can now view free, real-time traffic updates for the roads they travel at www.traffic.com. The free service is available for 30 cities including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Users will find JamCast videos by clicking on the JamCast tab at the top of Traffic.com's city area pages. Users are then guided across city roadways with real-time congestion updates and delays. Incident details include accidents, construction, and disabled vehicles. Visually detailed information is provided for each roadway with
Traffic.com-patented traffic flow mapping and 3D city imagery pinpointing the exact traffic incident locations.
"JamCast furthers our efforts to deliver the highest-quality, accurate and visually compelling traffic information to commuters on-air, on-line, and
on-the-go," said John MacLeod, Executive Vice President of NAVTEQ. "By delivering free real-time traffic video content across all digital media direct to commuters, we are helping drivers save time and money with valuable information they can access in real time and in whatever form they want and need."
