Honoring Most Innovative Location Intelligent Customers - Companies Recognized at MapWorld 2007, Pitney Bowes MapInfo User Conference
MapWorld 2007 -- TROY, N.Y. & SEATTLE--Pitney Bowes MapInfo, the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced the winners of the 2007 MapInfo® Meridian Awards. This awards program recognizes customers who are creatively driving business innovation through the use of Pitney Bowes MapInfo location intelligence software or data solutions. Companies from all over the world submitted entries. The winners in five categories are:
Organizational Impact Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC
Guy Carpenter, the worlds leading risk and reinsurance company, uses the MapInfo Location Intelligence Component within its i-aXs online risk management platform. By adding the critical dimension of location to reports, Guy Carpenter customersinsurance companiesare able to visually identify concentrations of policies around each other, as well as surrounding known terror targets. These reports can be generated simply with the click of the mouse, with little to no training required.

Changing the World New South Wales Rural Fire Service
The natural landscape and vegetation of Australia are recognized as some of the most fire prone and volatile in the world. A challenge for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, which is comprised of 70,000 personnel, has been to obtain accurate and easy-to-interpret information about fire position and behavior in a timely manner. To combat this problem, the fire service developed two programs with Pitney Bowes MapInfo HeliFIRE and MapDesk. HeliFIRE is designed to be used in-flight to gather live fire intelligence through GPS and moving map formats. MapDesk is a desktop solution used within an emergency management center to deliver a range of maps and information. These two programs deliver critical location intelligence to all firefighters, as well as other combat and support agencies throughout the community.

Technical Achievement Multispectral Sistemas e Servicos, Ltda.
Multispectral Sistemas e Servicos, a consulting service based in Brazil, provides route calculation and customized thematic maps for clients using MapInfo MapXtreme software. Multispectrals three dimensional add-ons include geocode and reverse geocode, point-to-point and multi-point route calculation, fly over route automatic camera and visualization of GPS tracked devices.

Unique & Unusual Town of Cary, North Carolina
The Town of Cary relies on Pitney Bowes MapInfos software to create recreational league teams based on the home addresses of players. For the past five years, the Town has used Pitney Bowes MapInfo to assign more than 1,600 players per year to basketball, baseball, tee ball and softball league programs. This process helps keep neighbors on the same team, cuts down on driving time and makes it easier for families to carpool.

Peoples Choice Vertis Media
Vertis Media, a division of Vertis Communications, develops custom media solutions for its clients to help them more effectively reach their customers. Using MapInfo MapXtreme for Windows, it developed the Desktop Mapping Extension (DME) which is a proprietary database of more than 236,000 individual distribution zones for more than 8,300 publications. Customers are able to produce detailed reports based on their particular needs (geographical references, demographics, zones, ZIP codes and etc.), making it a valuable research/management tool. Each piece of information sits on a layer which users may turn on or off according to their needs.
