Can Small Businesses Launch Competitive Rich-Media Mobile Applications to Tap into $67 Billion SMS Industry?

New York, NY April 21, 2007 -- ShiftCast, a new mobile start-up in Philadelphia, PA has announced that they have released a mobile software application and development kit that will enable small companies and indie developers to rapidly design and deploy professional mobile applications in minutes using Macromedia Flash Lite and a few specialty tools included in their mobile design SDK. This $1300 mobile design kit includes several finished mobile application templates compatible with Windows Mobile and Nokia/Symbian S60 phones such as streaming television, rss readers and stock analytics etc. Shiftcast tech personnel (as stated on their site) even assist SDK users with putting their first mobile creations together. Great, but how does it make me money?

ShiftCast enables small companies, webmasters and independent developers to create powerful, engaging rich-media mobile applications that generate revenue via SMS. Offering "freeware" private-label mobile applications and utilities via SMS enables companies to generate important leads as well as strong revenues. "We knew that many companies that approached us about development on mobile were nervous about "time and cost". We couldn't be there to serve each and every client because there are too many who need us to release mobile offerings this year. Most publishers really want to get their news and headlines to the mobile handset like Windows Mobile. Some want to offer music downloads, and others want to serve occasional ads on the mobile desktop. We made sure all these features were included in the SDK." Said Lead Developer Moses Johnson. We knew that building even a simple "Hello world" application for release on any handset commercially costs thousands of dollars because of special licenses and other hidden charges and road blocks". "We wanted to create a way for small businesses to bypass these costs and push some solid mobile apps out into the market place now."

Finally, looking at the ShiftCast SDK in action at: http://shiftradio.com... First thoughts when you see ShiftRadio are feelings of envy, but happiness comes quickly when you realize now anyone can afford to build their own killer mobile applications or services, including yourself.

Second we did some googling and found a growing list of new commercial mobile apps and services such as Verizon Vcast, MobiTV, a'mpd Mobile and SakiMobile, to name a few, take a look at these services, and it's easy to see why these guys at Shiftcast are so busy. Thinking about going mobile? Looks like your options just got much more interesting.
