Forum.Nokia, the developer resource arm for developers of apps and services that run on Nokia devices has introduced a resource specifically for those interested in developing LBS applications and services.
Nokia Developer Platforms include APIs for determining the current location of a terminal. The Location Acquisition API enables native Symbian OS applications to determine the current location of the Nokia 7710 widescreen multimedia smartphone as well as terminals based on the Series 60 Platform or the Series 80 Platform. This API provides easy access for determining a user's current location independent of the positioning technology being used. This means that applications can utilize all available positioning technologies, such as Bluetooth Global Positioning System (GPS) accessories, and network-based positioning, via a single API.
