Program Includes Online Editing Tools Designed to Ensure Pinpoint Accuracy of POIs and Location-Based Application Content; 12.5 Million POIs Already Available
Hannover, Germany March 15, 2007 Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, today unveiled at CeBIT Tele Atlas ContentLink, a unique Web-based program for content production and distribution that gives location-based application developers access to a wide range of up-to-date, specialized content and points of interest (POIs).
Tele Atlas ContentLink is designed to streamline time-to-market by allowing developers to rapidly discover and obtain the latest content provided by publishers such as entertainment, lodging and services data. Publishers of any size can post content to the portal, and leverage Tele Atlas unique editing tools and specialized geocoding to categorize, locate and verify the precise position of their content on Tele Atlas maps. Developers can then search, acquire and download the content to create highly targeted applications and personalized downloads for personal and in-car navigation systems, mobile and wireless devices, Internet solutions and location-based services (LBS). For example, a navigation device could show end-users the nearest locations of a WiFi hotspot or parking spot, or an application could deliver content of specific interest to football enthusiasts in London.
With Tele Atlas ContentLink, developers have the flexibility to increase product appeal by tailoring products for specific groups based on demographics, geographic regions and interests, said Albert Cooley, senior director of tools and services, Tele Atlas. End users can benefit from what we believe is the most accurate, up-to-date and personalized content to help them find places and things of interest with ease and convenience.
The continuously growing range of available content offered currently includes over 12.5 million POIs, including content from the following publishers:
-- AnchorFree: Free WiFi hotspot locations across North America
-- Future Events News Services: U.K. venues for large crowds with significant event information
-- Johnson's: U.K. police stations, hospitals and local councils
-- LocaKno (KAK Enterprises): U.S. culture and history points of knowledge
-- MobileParking LLC: Parking garages and lots in the U.S.
-- NearBio: Verified retail biodiesel fueling locations in the U.S.
-- Spark Parking: Comprehensive parking facility information
-- Spectator Sports: Speedway tracks in the U.K.
-- Spotigo: WiFi hotspot locations across Europe and North America
-- Multiple-Category POIs for Europe and North America: Millions of POIs across 16 European countries, the U.S. and Canada
Tele Atlas will demonstrate the program at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, March 15-21, Hall #11, Booth D37.
