Wayfinder brings tailor made localised search engines and databases to your mobile phone in 2007; The online mobile map and GPS provider aims to be one of first in the market to complete highly personalised service for users to provide a high value-add for mobile operators
February 9, 2007 -- Wayfinder, the leading on-line mobile map and GPS-based application provider is to extend its current search information to location aware search later this year. The services will offer mobile users extensive search facilities and platforms for local information so they can choose from a database of their choice which will be offered through local providers in the country they are in. This development will enable users to benefit from a tailor made database that offers full listings for businesses, restaurants, museums in any location in Europe, the UK and North America.
Consumers simply need to enter a word into the database or local search engine, for example, eels and mash and the location based search will enable users to pull up local restaurants that serve eels and mash without knowing the name of the restaurant and will navigate them to the restaurant of their choice.
Wayfinder aims to be one of the first in the market to complete this highly personalised service for the user and ensuring a high value-add for mobile operators.
Magnus Nilsson CEO of Wayfinder comments; "Traveling for business and leisure is on the increase and this development is a tool that supports the user in the country they are in to get around with ease".
The Wayfinder suite of products and services enables mobile operators to strengthen their market proposition with a range of navigation services that also enable users to zoom on any part of the globe and obtain location details as well as contact numbers. Retaining customers in any market is always key and tools that boost customer retention is an avenue worth exploring".
Speaking at the Mobile Search Conference last week, Magnus Nilsson, said that location based services provide mobile operators with a strong foundation for value added services. "Location based search is one of the best ways of adding value as it offers mobile users very local, personalised information without them having to manually specify their postcode details. Information comes straight to them in their mobile phone."
