Quinta Da Ria, Al Badia Resort Become First Golf Courses in Their Countries to Feature World's Leading GPS System
CHANDLER, Ariz., Jan. 24 -- ProLink Solutions -- a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProLink Holdings Corp. (BULLETIN BOARD: PLKH) and the world's leading provider of Global Positioning Satellite ("GPS") golf course management systems and on-course advertising -- today announces its European distributor Elumina Iberica is currently installing the ProLink system for the first time in Portugal (Quinta Da Ria Golf Course) and has received a firm order from Dubai (Al Badia Golf Resort). These installs should be completed by February 15, 2007.
The new installations continue the rapid worldwide expansion of the ProLink brand. ProLink recently announced plans to acquire Elumina Iberica, its international distributor, to more directly capitalize on international demand. Internationally renowned golf properties including 2006 Ryder Cup host the K Club in Ireland, 1997 Ryder Cup host Valderrama in Spain, and 2003 Presidents Cup site Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estates in South Africa feature ProLink GPS. With the additions of Quinta Da Ria and Al Badia, ProLink's global reach now extends to 15 countries on five continents.
Designed by Rocky Roquemore and opened in 2001, Quinta Da Ria showcases a beautiful natural setting in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, with panoramic views to the sea on Portugal's southern coast. The par-72 Quinta Da Ria course features generous greens and visually arresting bunkers alongside hundreds of almond, olive and carob trees in the Algarve region, an increasingly popular destination for golfing travelers.
"We are delighted to become the first golf course in Portugal to feature ProLink GPS," said Antonio Cavaco, Director of Golf at Quinta Da Ria. "The system adds yet another unique factor to our spectacular course, helping golfers negotiate the layout and, at the same time, allowing my staff to manage operations in the most efficient way possible."
Al Badia Golf Resort is one of 15 distinct development zones within Dubai Festival City in this thriving Middle Eastern country. The 7,250-yard course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II and opened in 2005, is notable for its design variety, creative use of water and views of the nearby city of Dubai. Four sets of tees and a wealth of strategic options allow players of all levels to enjoy Al Badia.
"We looked at all of the GPS systems on the market and the decision to choose ProLink was clear," says Craig Skimming, Golf Operations Manager at Al Badia. "We are delighted to partner with ProLink and Elumina to provide this wonderful amenity to our golfers, who will find it extremely helpful as they plan their approach to each hole."
"It is an honor for Elumina and ProLink to be selected over all competitors to provide this state-of-the-art GPS system to Quinta Da Ria and Al Badia, two exciting destinations in booming golf regions," says Angela Catlin, Marketing Director for the Elumina Group. "We expect the adoption of the ProLink system in Portugal to progress similarly to the UK, France and Spain where it has very quickly become the dominant product and a must have for all golf courses. The interest shown to date from the other courses in Portugal is very encouraging and we anticipate several other courses following suit in the very near future."
Simultaneously to the PGA merchandise show in Florida this month ProLink and Elumina are exhibiting at the 'Golf Ex' exhibition in Dubai on Stand 30 where they also expect to receive lots of interest in the system.
Mrs. Catlin adds "Historically the choice of GPS systems in Dubai has been very limited due to the lack of an approved radio frequency to allow the two-way communication needed on the system. After nearly 12 months to secure this frequency we believe many courses in Dubai will now be interested in changing to the worlds No. 1 GPS system and all the additional features on the system it brings to both the end user and the course management."
