LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, will be demonstrating the capability to transmit traffic flow data from probe sources during this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
"Traffic flow data from probe sources will be an increasingly useful component of an overall traffic solution. Probe data is a complement to our expanding sensor network and will be especially valuable once the probe vehicles reach a critical mass. We look forward to working with our customers to help them fully realize the potential of this technology," said Howard Hayes, Vice President of Dynamic Content.
Probe data is generated when a vehicle, typically a delivery truck or home or business service vehicle, reports its location via a connected GPS device.
