Company's Technical Capabilities Expand with 17 Patents in Process and 1 in 4 Employees Working in Engineering

ROCHESTER, NY – December 6, 2006 – Pictometry International Corp., the worldwide leader in digital, aerial oblique imagery and measuring software systems today announced a number of new technical advancements of its software that were recently introduced at its FutureView User Conference.

"Pictometry is a very innovation-driven company where one out of four employees works in the engineering department," said Pictometry Co-Founder and CTO Stephen L. Schultz. The company currently has 17 patents in process, has the ability to process over 500,000 images per day, has 50 domestic imaging capture systems in place, and its digital camera calibration technology was adopted and licensed by the United States Geological Survey. "Our patented capture system includes our own custom manufactured digital camera systems and extremely accurate, custom designed lenses that reduce image distortion by a factor of 10X over top-of-the-line industry lenses. This gives us total control over our product capabilities, which is essential for meeting our customer needs. We know of no other company, or even partnership of companies, that comes close to this capability," said Schultz.

Pictometry Extension for ESRI ArcGIS
Geographic Information System (GIS) departments can now utilize a number of new enhancements with Pictometry's Extension for ArcGIS. Pictometry's Extension for ArcGIS allows digital oblique imagery to be viewed and used inside a variety of ESRI products. The power of oblique imagery combined with the power of GIS all within the ESRI operating environment opens many doors for GIS professionals. The Pictometry Extension is available for ArcGIS/ArcMap 9.X and ArcIMS.

There are three primary Pictometry functions within the extension; View, Navigate, and Measure as well as ESRI-like GIS functions. Within those functions the following features exist:

View Controls:

Image Tool – click on map to bring up Pictometry image from corresponding point on map.
Zoom Control – zoom in, out, home, and center zoom.
Directional View Select – North, East, South, West, and Ortho; filter by views.
Navigate Controls:

Pictometry Navigation Tool – allows user to "virtually walk" down a road or path clear across the entire image library of a county or state.
Display Compass on Image.
Display Location on Map – Dynamic Pane Window.
Location Tool – displays coordinates from selected point on map or image.
Rotate Map to Image.
View Window on Map.
Pictometry's Measurement Capabilities (in ESRI software viewer):

Distance – straight line, perimeter, poly-line.
Area – Polygon, Freeform Area.
Height – measures heights of buildings and other vertical structures.
Façade – measures sides of buildings, windows, or entries/egresses.
Bearing – allows user to visualize directionality from true north.
Elevation – displays the ground elevation data of selected point.
GIS:

Overlay GIS Features – All, None, or Selected.
Info Tool – for use on the oblique images, pulling data from the GIS layers.
Zoom Map to Image Footprint.
Display Image Footprint on Map.

The company recently announced a unique approach to 3D modeling that allows customers to create their own 3D models, or to select from one of three different modeling solutions designed to fit various needs and budgetary constraints. All Pictometry Real3D™ models include a standard viewer that allows for visualization, fly-throughs, and measurement capabilities. Most models can be configured to be viewed in other 3D viewing systems such as ESRI ArcGlobe.
