ESRI and Trimble Announce Recipients of Mobile Government Grants for Coastal Communities
Redlands, California―ESRI and Trimble are pleased to announce the 10 winners of the Mobile Government Grant Program: Coastal Communities Edition. The grant program has been established to help government agencies create models for the development and implementation of innovative GIS and GPS applications aimed at improving government processes. Beginning in December 2006, the grant winners' applications will be posted as public domain templates for ArcPad on ESRIs Web site www.esri.com/arcpadtemplates. From there, the scripts can be accessed and freely downloaded.
For this edition of the grant program, ESRI and Trimble have awarded software, hardware, and training grants totaling more than $96,000 to 10 state, regional, and local governments within designated coastal communities. The recipients of the 2006 ESRI and Trimble Mobile Government Grant Program: Coastal Communities Edition are
Indian River County, Florida, Coastal Engineering Department
Collier County, Florida, Environmental Services Department
Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Sheriffs Office
New York City, New York, Department of Parks and Recreation, Capital Projects Division
City of Ocean Shores, Washington, Public Works Department
State of Georgia, Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Resources Division, Ecological Services Section
Curry County, Oregon, Assessors Office
City of Wilmington, North Carolina, Public Services Department, Stormwater Services
State of Maine, Department of Conservation
City of Alpena, Michigan, City Engineering Department
ESRI and Trimble encourage the government community to promote the sharing of applications by posting their work online, because exchanging ideas on issues that affect their communities helps government better serve the public. Through the ESRI and Trimble Mobile Government Demonstration Project and the public domain templates on ESRIs Web site, governments can continue to meet their objectives through the open exchange of ideas and shared resources.
