Softwired iBusMobile Gateway Now Supports .NET Compact Framework Client Applications Running on Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones

June 30, 2006--Softwired today released iBusMobile 6.0, which, supports devices based on .NET Compact Framework 2.0 running Microsoft Windows Mobile OS for PDAs and Smartphones. iBusMobile now integrates Windows .NET CF to enterprise Java J2EE back-end legacy systems. Adding to Softwired's existing support for J2ME devices and Windows .NET Framework, iBusMobile now includes a .NET Compact Framework library specifically for Windows Mobile OS, based on Softwired's well-established WJMS client, providing reliable data communication even over fragile mobile networks. iBusMobile Gateway, based on JMS semantics, guarantees message delivery once and only once including over wireless networks.

Softwired developed its .NET CF client specifically for POST Denmark, which, wanted functionality Windows .NET Compact Framework based client devices offered, targeting up to circa 10,000 of its postal employees. Mobile data communication allows postal employees to be 'online', enabling real time updates for postal delivery and greater flexibility in business processes. To enable this end-to-end solution Softwired integrated POST Denmark's J2EE (SAPWAS) application server via Java (JMS) with Softwired's iBusMobile Gateway communicating over GPRS to .NET CF client devices (initially Qtek 8310). This solution, according to POST Denmark's project leader, Anders Jensen incorporates 'the best of both worlds - Windows front-end client devices communicating to Java (JMS) back-end systems', adding 'we are very pleased with Softwired's end-to-end mobile software solution and their support in response to our needs has been superb.'

Softwired's experience confirms the timing is right in supporting emerging demand for .NET Compact Framework enabled devices (e.g., HTC's Qtek, Motorola Q etc,) as serious productivity work tools for telematics, field force automation, sales force automation and business process operations via J2EE platforms such as SAPWAS, BEA, Oracle AS, Sun, and JBoss etc.

Increasingly, enterprise mobile deployments are focusing on business applications requiring real time interaction via new generation pda's and Smartphones. Besides standard email, chat and calendaring, businesses are demanding reliable mobile messaging middleware technology such as Softwired's iBusMobile, enabling real time connectivity between event driven mobile applications and back-end systems, over fragile mobile networks. These applications include inter alia, GPS, alerts, scanning, instant messaging, chat, order entry, fleet dispatch, telematics and field force automation. Extending the reach of back-end Java applications from wireline legacy systems to include both Java and .NET Compact Framework programmable mobile devices provides organisations and end users with greater flexibility, increased productivity and more efficient business process operations adding significantly to the corporate bottom line.
