MapInfo Professional® v8.5 empowers users with enhanced analytics and improved data access for quicker, more accurate answers to critical business problems
LondonMay 31, 2006MapInfo Corporation (NASDAQ: MAPS), the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today introduced MapInfo Professional® version 8.5, the first version of the companys user-friendly location intelligence application with Web services connectivity. MapInfo Professional users can now access dynamic data available on the internet and perform detailed analysis of information in a single environment to make better informed decisions about the location of assets, customers, constituents and competition.
MapInfo Professional v8.5 users can quickly and easily connect to Web services-enabled content and perform more comprehensive analysis of disparate forms of dynamic data. With Web services connectivity enabled via MapBasic®, organisations in any industry can improve analysis of enterprise and external information. For instance, a retailer can quickly view customer profiles in a selected location for improved trade area analysis. Cable companies can receive real-time traffic conditions from the Yahoo! traffic feeds Web service to help service personnel more efficiently reach customers.
Users can now access the MapInfo Envinsa location intelligence platform and MapInfos hosted Envinsa Online Services to location-enable existing data by attaching latitude and longitude coordinates to each piece of information. By location-enabling enterprise data and seamlessly incorporating real-time content via Web services, MapInfo Professional provides a user-friendly interface for retrieving, analysing and bolstering enterprise information.
"With a single environment for accessing external Web services and analysing enterprise information, MapInfo Professional is a comprehensive location intelligence application for organisations in any industry," said David Flower, Vice President and General Manager, MapInfo EMEA. "By location-enabling data and connecting with Envinsa, other Web services and enterprise applications, we are delivering new location content and capabilities via MapInfo Professional that enable users to provide better service to their customers and be more productive in daily activities."
New Features Drive More Insightful Decisions
MapInfo Professional v8.5 provides users with a wide array of new capabilities not available with other digital mapping solutions. This release incorporates many new customer-driven improvements, with more usability and advanced visualisation and analysis features, including the ability to align imagery automatically.
Connecting to Envinsa functionality directly from the MapInfo Professional interface, users can quickly identify locations that can be reached within a given driving time or distance. Armed with this analysis, organisations can make strategic business decisions about customer service, target marketing and site planning for new stores.
By connecting via XML interfaces to enterprise systems such as SAP or MicroStrategy, MapInfo Professional users can directly access applications to view corporate data. Combining, sharing and analysing corporate information with location-enabled data enables users across the entire organisation to utilise the results of location intelligence analysis within any enterprise application.
Availability
MapInfo Professional v8.5 will be available beginning June 6, 2006. More information about MapInfo Professional can be found at: www.mapinfo.com/upgrade.
